Red Snapper is a Dutch-owned tapas restaurant on the Long Beach strip — the most serious independent dining room on Koh Lanta's west coast, a short walk from the beach and a ten-minute drive from Pimalai. The kitchen is Mediterranean in format (small plates, shared) with a European fine-dining sensibility the island otherwise lacks.
The menu runs about twenty-five small plates. Highlights include the seared tuna with wasabi, the slow-braised lamb, the house-made gnocchi, the chorizo in red wine, and a cheese board that punches well above island norms. The chef's tasting (six small plates plus dessert) is the best single order.
What separates Red Snapper from the other Long Beach rooms is the drinks. The bartender runs a proper cocktail program — not sticky-sweet tourist drinks — and the wine list is genuine, with respectable Spanish, Italian and French producers in the THB 1,400–3,500 range. The bar itself stays open late, which makes Red Snapper one of the few Koh Lanta rooms where dinner flows into drinks at the same venue.
For a business dinner, the format is the advantage — small-plates sharing puts conversation on the table, the wine list signals intent without costing Bangkok money, and the table does not need to hurry. Red Snapper is the room where a deal actually gets discussed.
Why it fits Close a Deal
Close a Deal belongs here because Red Snapper is the only Koh Lanta room that reads as a business dinner. A real wine list, shared plates, a bartender who knows what he is doing, and the quiet that lets conversation hold. It is the island's answer to a Bangkok hotel dining room.
