About Little Pearl
Thirty-odd seats, three seatings a night, and a menu that changes with whatever comes off the Key West boats. Little Pearl opened in February 2017 on the corner of Olivia and Elizabeth, a few quiet blocks off Duval, from husband-and-wife restaurateurs Tommy Quartararo and Kristen Onderdonk. It is the island's best small-room fine dining: a short, four-course chef's menu built on local seafood and bright, citrus-forward New American cooking, with a wine list to match. The size and the seating times make it one of Old Town's harder reservations.
The Kitchen
Tommy Quartararo cooks a tight four-course chef's menu that turns over with the local catch, so the card you read is rarely the one from last month. The kitchen leans on Key West seafood and bright, acid-driven New American technique: the fresh ceviche and the cod fritters are the dishes regulars come back for, alongside a rotating fish course and a few globally-flavoured plates. Dinner runs as a four-course tasting offered Monday to Saturday at 5, 7, and 9, with an a la carte path of plates roughly 30 to 45 dollars and an average spend near 63 dollars before wine. The list is chosen to pour with the food rather than to pad the bill.
The room is tiny and warm, around thirty seats in a converted Old Town house with a small courtyard, a few blocks from the Duval Street noise. Sound is conversation-easy, the kind of room where you hear each other without leaning in. Lighting is low and candle-warm, tables are close but not cramped, and dress is Key West smart-casual, which means a collared shirt rather than a swimsuit. The seatings at 5, 7, and 9 keep the pace deliberate. It is built for an intimate dinner, not a crowd.
Best for a First Date
Little Pearl is built for a first date: a small, candle-lit room a few blocks off the tourist strip, a short four-course menu that gives you something to talk about without a three-hour commitment, and a quiet enough space to actually hear each other. Take the early 5 o'clock seating if you want a relaxed pace, lean on the wine pairings, and let the local ceviche start the night. It flatters a date without trying too hard, which is exactly the point.
Not for
Not for a big group or a walk-in. With about thirty seats and fixed seating times, it cannot take large parties easily, and turning up without a booking usually means no table, especially in winter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Little Pearl worth it?
Yes, it is one of Key West's best fine-dining rooms. Tommy Quartararo's short, four-course menu is built on local catch and bright New American cooking, and the intimate thirty-seat room a few blocks off Duval is a welcome contrast to the island's louder spots. With an average spend near 63 dollars before wine it is not cheap for Key West, but for a date, a proposal, or a special dinner it earns it.
How hard is it to book Little Pearl?
Hard for its size. With only about thirty seats and three fixed seatings, prime evening slots book up well ahead, especially in the winter high season, so reserve one to two weeks out. Book online or call, take the 5 o'clock seating if later times are gone, and call ahead for parties of five or more, which the small room cannot always accommodate.
What is the dress code at Little Pearl?
Key West smart-casual. There is no jacket rule on the island, but this is a fine-dining room, so a collared shirt or a sundress is right rather than beachwear. Most diners dress up a notch from the Duval norm. Comfortable and neat is the level to aim for.
What should I order at Little Pearl?
Take the four-course chef's menu, which is the heart of the restaurant and changes with the catch. Make sure the fresh ceviche and the cod fritters are part of the night, the two dishes regulars return for, and ask about the day's local fish course. Lean on the wine pairings, which are chosen to match the menu rather than to upsell.

Occasion: First Date
Booked the early seating for a first date and it could not have been better. Tiny candle-lit room off Duval, easy to talk, and the four courses gave us a rhythm to the night. The ceviche was bright and the cod fritters disappeared fast. We lingered over the wine pairing and closed the place. A keeper.

Occasion: Proposal
Proposed here in the little courtyard and the team quietly made it happen. The room is intimate enough that it felt private even with other tables nearby. The food is genuinely good, not just a backdrop, the local fish course was the highlight. Worth booking weeks ahead to get the seating we wanted.
Book online or by phone. Only about thirty seats across 5, 7, and 9 seatings, so reserve one to two weeks ahead in season.
