Rosemary Kitchen sits behind a garden wall in Thamel, a short walk from the main tourist strip but entirely removed from its noise. The garden is the main dining space in warmer months; the indoor dining room — low ceilings, white walls, candlelight — is the choice in winter and during rain.

The kitchen works with organic producers from the Kathmandu valley: a menu that runs from wood-fired pizza to slow-braised yak with root vegetables, a vegetarian section that is as serious as the non-vegetarian, and a dessert programme built around local honey and seasonal fruit. Wine list is limited but considered.

It is a specifically good business-dinner room. Table spacing is generous, the acoustics are soft enough for a two-person negotiation, and the pace of the kitchen lets you sit for two hours without being hurried.
