Sedudu Bar & Grill — Grills / Bar, Kasane
Sedudu Bar & Grill takes its name from Sedudu Island — the small Chobe River island whose ownership was disputed between Botswana and Namibia until the International Court of Justice ruled in Botswana's favour in 1999. The bar, at the meeting point of four countries, carries this geopolitical history lightly and primarily uses it as a conversation opener.
The braai is the kitchen's soul. Boerewors (South African-style coiled sausage), game burgers, and grilled chicken cooked over wood coals with the practiced confidence of a culture that has been braaing since before the word existed — this is outdoor southern African cooking in its most honest form.
Zambezi Lager — brewed in Zimbabwe just across the border — is the regional beer of choice at Sedudu and arrives reliably cold. The proximity of four national borders (Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia) means the beer selection reflects all four countries' brewing traditions.
The sundowner culture is practised seriously here — Kasane sits on the Tropic of Capricorn and the sunsets are correspondingly dramatic. The bar fills from 5:30pm as safari vehicles return and the light turns the Chobe gold.
Best Occasion: Great for Group Birthdays
Braai, Zambezi Lager in rounds, the Four Corners geography as backdrop, and the Kasane waterfront at sunset. The most genuine celebration dining in the area.
Best Occasion: Perfect for Solo Dining
The bar counter at Sedudu, a boerewors roll, and the sunset over the Chobe River. Solo travel at its most satisfying — no company required, plenty available if wanted.
