Slightly Chilled Lounge Bar

Slightly Chilled Lounge Bar is exactly what the name suggests — a rooftop lounge three storeys above central Kandy with a 180-degree view of the lake and the temple. The main deck is open-air (covered in monsoon), the back bar is air-conditioned, and the music slides from lounge into house as the evening progresses.

The food menu is shareable and international: loaded nachos, spicy Sri Lankan devilled chicken, an excellent pad Thai, a short list of wood-fired pizzas. Cocktails are built around arrack and local fresh juice; the bartenders will build to taste if you ask. Happy hour runs 18:00 to 20:00 most nights.

Birthday groups colonize the rooftop edge tables and stay for hours. The staff are completely comfortable with cake, candles, and an embarrassing song. The temple lights come on at 19:00 — time your first round to coincide.
