Simon's is a wide-veranda bar-restaurant on the Kampot river with one of the best sunset views in town. The menu is deliberately broad — burgers, pastas, Khmer curries, salads, a decent pizza — and the bar is the real reason to go. The gin list is specifically strong; the house sundowner is a Kampot-pepper G&T that the staff will build to your specification.
It is the town's unofficial solo-diner spot. Single travellers, work-from-anywhere types, and resident expats fill the bar seats facing the river from about 17:00 onward. The staff recognize repeat visitors within a day and will save you a seat without being asked.
Order light at the bar, watch the sun drop behind Bokor, and order heavier after dark. On quieter weeknights the kitchen will usually make off-menu Khmer dishes if you ask nicely.
Why it fits Solo Dining
Solo Dining belongs here because the bar is designed for it. You have a view, a book-friendly seat, a staff that knows your name by day two, and a menu that adapts to one appetite. It is the easiest solo dinner in Kampot.
