About Café Lapérouse
Café Lapérouse is the Jeddah expansion of the Parisian institution — a restaurant that has operated on the Quai des Grands-Augustins since 1766. The Saudi location, inside the Cascade at Jeddah Walk on the South Corniche, opened in 2024 with the full Parisian visual grammar intact: velvet banquettes, gilt mirrors, hand-painted ceilings executed by the Paris team's ateliers. The room is visually the most European restaurant in the Kingdom.
The all-day menu moves from Parisian breakfasts through long lunches into a proper bistronomy dinner service. Pâté en croûte, sole meunière, entrecôte Café de Paris, île flottante — the dishes are precisely the same as the Parisian original, executed by a kitchen team that trained for a season at the Quai. The viennoiserie is baked in-house daily and is among the best in the region.
For a first date in Jeddah, Café Lapérouse manages a difficult trick: it is visually spectacular enough to impress on arrival, but the pacing of an all-day venue allows a date to stay for three hours or ninety minutes without forcing a decision. The banquettes along the window wall — facing the Cascade courtyard — are the correct seat request. The bar, open through the afternoon, serves French pastries with the city's best coffee program and suits a shorter first-date format.
Solo diners are welcomed at the bar counter, which runs the length of the open kitchen. Afternoon service — 2pm through 6pm — is the quiet sweet spot; the kitchen will produce any menu item and the room is unhurried. Breakfast service is the most photographed moment of the Jeddah Walk programme.
Why It's Perfect for First Date
A Parisian room, all-day service, and a pacing that lets either party leave gracefully at ninety minutes or stay for three hours. Jeddah's best first-date machinery.
