The Room
Kiran Verma opened Kiran's on Richmond Avenue in 2003 — a chef-driven modern-Indian dining room dedicated to the proposition that Houston needed a serious Indian-fine-dining destination. The James Beard Foundation has shortlisted Verma for Best Chef Texas multiple years.
The dining room is intentionally formal-Indian: hand-painted Indian folk art, marble accents, leather banquettes. The Houston Press has held Kiran's on its top-Indian-restaurant rankings every year of operation.
The Food
The tandoor programme runs lamb, chicken, and seafood. The seasonal-rotating curries, the rice-and-bread programme, and the chef's tasting at $95 handle the menu's wider draws.
Wine programme is short, weighted toward Riesling. Cocktails are Indian-spice-led.
