About La Bergerie d’Èze
La Bergerie d'Èze — the Èze Sheepfold — sits at the entrance to the medieval village, in a 17th-century stone building that has housed a restaurant of the same name since 1965. The dining room is built around a central open fire on which the kitchen grills its meat over vine cuttings; the terrace, set back into the village wall, fills nightly with locals and visitors who have been correctly directed there. It is a genuine Riviera institution.
The kitchen runs a confident Provençal-grill menu with strong south-western French accents. Côte de boeuf Aubrac for two grilled over the open fire; gigot d'agneau de sept heures roasted slowly with herbs and garlic; sea bass salt-baked at the table; an unfussy daube de boeuf; the classic tarte Tatin carried table-side. Portions are large; sharing platters are the standard order.
The wine list runs about 250 references with a strong Côtes du Rhône and Languedoc bench, serious Bordeaux right-bank section, and the expected Provence rosé programme. By-the-glass rotates fifteen bottles, and the proprietor (also the sommelier) is happy to walk groups through the list at the table. Mark-ups are fair; serious bottles can be drunk here without anguish.
Service is led by the proprietor's family, runs at the unhurried Provençal pace, and is unfailingly warm. The room fills with locals on weeknights, visiting groups on weekends, and a long bench of long-term regulars. It is the most reliably enjoyable group dinner in Èze and the booking that the village's full-time residents quietly recommend first.
Why It's Perfect for Team Dinner
La Bergerie d'Èze is a team-dinner room in the Provençal register — large oak tables that seat eight comfortably, a sharing-platter ordering rhythm built around the open-fire grill, serious bottles poured at fair markups, and a per-head bill that nobody complains about. It is also the right working dinner for a small business celebration or relationship dinner that needs the village without the Michelin theatre.
