"The most polished Thai table in Davao — Royal Thai technique inside dusitD2, built for an unhurried celebration dinner."
About Benjarong
Benjarong is the Royal Thai room at dusitD2 Davao, the Bangkok-born brand Dusit International carried to Mindanao when the hotel opened in 2020. The name means "five colours" — the five Thai tastes of sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami — and the Davao kitchen builds its own menu around regional produce rather than copying the Manila original.
It sits among the city's serious Thai restaurants and remains a reliable choice for a refined dinner out.
The Kitchen
Chef Woon Krissana grinds the curry and spice pastes in-house, the foundation of a green chicken curry locals return for. The signature plate is Pla Sam Ros — deep-fried seabass under a three-flavour sauce — alongside Gung Sa Moon Prai, wok-fired tiger prawns with lemongrass and lime leaf. A Thai green curry runs about P420 and is generous enough to share; chicken satay opens the meal at P300. Finish with khao niew ma muang, mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream.
The Room
The dining room is hushed and hotel-formal, with Benjarong porcelain accents and a quiet bar pouring cocktails at around P400 net. Service is attentive without hovering, and tables are spaced for conversation — closer to a special-occasion room than a casual weeknight stop.
Best for a celebration dinner
Best for a birthday or quiet anniversary — the formal room, sharing curries and a proper bar make it an easy place to mark an occasion. It also handles visiting clients well.
Not for
Not for a fast, cheap weeknight bite — this is hotel-priced fine dining, and the pacing rewards a long sit-down, not a quick solo lunch.
