About Sunset Mona Lisa
Sunset Mona Lisa is the Trincossi-family-run cliff-top dining room at the Misiones del Cabo Resort. Opened in 1995 at the eastern entrance to Cabo San Lucas, with a direct stage-right view of the Land's End Arch (the natural rock arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez). And is the village's longest-running luxury sunset-dining institution.
The cuisine is contemporary Mediterranean with Mexican Pacific sourcing. Signatures include a hand-rolled tagliolino with Mazatlán shrimp and Cetara colatura; a slow-cooked Baja-coast lamb shoulder with rosemary and Niçoise olive oil; a wood-fired Pacific dentex with samphire and lemon confit; a Cabo-chocolate clam cocktail with Mexican lime; the famous 'flan de Mona Lisa' for the dessert course.
The wine list runs to 500 references with deep Mexican Valle de Guadalupe coverage and a tightly chosen Italian and French section. The sommelier programme runs heavily Italian.
The dining room and cliff-top terrace together hold a hundred and twenty covers; the kitchen times the dessert course with the sunset. The terrace is the experience: south-facing, with a direct stage-right view of the Land's End Arch and the rock formations of the harbour entrance.
Why It's Perfect for Proposal
Sunset Mona Lisa is the proposal-grade dinner in Cabo when Land's End is the brief. The 1995-vintage institution settles the credibility question, the cliff-top terrace at sunset is the canonical Cabo dinner view, and the Mediterranean-Mexican cooking is reliable. Book the western corner two-top.
