Deschutes Brewery Public House — American / Brewery, Bend

Deschutes Brewery opened in 1988 and became one of the defining craft breweries of the American Northwest — Black Butte Porter and Mirror Pond Pale Ale are beers that shaped the category nationally. The Bond Street Public House is the original taproom, and the experience of drinking the flagship pints in the building where they were first poured retains a specific authenticity.

The pub food is designed to serve the beer program: the burgers use Oregon beef, the nachos use local chiles, and the rotating specials apply the Pacific Northwest sourcing philosophy to a pub menu that has more ambition than the format requires.

The beer program has grown to dozens of year-round and seasonal offerings — the barrel-aged program, the sour ales, and the small-batch experimental beers that the brewery produces from a secondary facility demonstrate a creative range that goes well beyond the flagship pints.

The Bond Street location in Bend's downtown core means the Public House captures the full cross-section of the city — skiers coming off Mount Bachelor, mountain bikers from Phil's Trail, and the tech workers who relocated here from Portland and Seattle.
