Bambu opened in 2014 on Jl. Petitenget and has quietly held its own through Seminyak's many openings since. The setting is the draw — a teak-and-bamboo pavilion wrapped in lantern-lit tropical gardens, twenty-eight covers across the open-walled main room and a handful of private corner tables for two.
The kitchen serves Indonesian regional classics with confident technique: rendang slow-cooked for nine hours, bebek betutu (Balinese smoked duck) prepared with traditional banana-leaf wrap, ikan bakar (charcoal-grilled snapper) finished with a coconut-and-lime sambal that is among the best in Seminyak. Portions are generous; the rijsttafel set menu is the way to introduce a first-time visitor to Indonesian cuisine in one sitting.
It is a quiet restaurant by Seminyak standards — no DJ, no beach-club energy, candlelight as primary lighting. The bar programme runs Indonesian-spirit cocktails (arak-based, with palm-sugar syrups and tropical bitters) plus a focused wine list with strong Australian and Indonesian options.
Bookings via the restaurant's website or DineOut, one week ahead for prime-time. Outdoor garden tables are the draw — request when booking; weather backup is a covered indoor section. Dress smart-casual; the room expects effort but does not demand jackets.
