Straw Hat Restaurant is the seasonal beachfront flagship at Frangipani Beach Resort on Meads Bay. Open seasonally November to April. And was named one of Condé Nast Traveler's 50 Hot New Restaurants of the World. The restaurant runs the quintessential Caribbean outdoor dining experience.
The cuisine is contemporary Caribbean with deep regional sourcing. The kitchen runs breakfast through dinner during the November-April season; signatures include a Caribbean-lobster bisque; a slow-cooked Caribbean goat; a wood-fired Caribbean snapper; the famous 'tropical fruit pavlova' for the dessert course.
The wine list runs to 200 references with French Champagne and Caribbean-rum coverage.
The dining room and Meads Bay terrace together hold ninety-six covers; the kitchen times the dessert course with the violet-hued sunset that the bay is known for.
