The Verdict
Li Beirut occupies an upper floor of the Jumeirah at Emirates Towers tower on the West Corniche, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing both the Gulf and the city skyline. The dining room is elegant without being oppressively formal — cream leather, quiet banquettes, low lighting, a long mirrored bar running the length of one wall — and the acoustics are calibrated for conversation rather than theatrical dining.
The cooking is contemporary Lebanese — mezze that extends beyond the standard hot/cold categories into seasonal specials, charcoal-grilled kofta and shish taouk with the char the brand is known for, tagines (a nod to the chef's Moroccan training), and the ma'amoul dessert program that closes the meal in a gentle rose-water register. The bread program alone justifies the visit: hot taboon bread at the table, and the kitchen's house saj made to order.
Expect AED 400–550 per person with moderate wine. The wine list is stronger on Lebanese labels than most UAE hotels — Château Musar, Château Ksara, Ixsir — and the restaurant will discuss the list with you rather than default to imported European bottles. Request a west-facing window table for sunset bookings; the 45-minute window around local sunset is the room's peak.
Why It Works for Proposal
The view is the proposal. Li Beirut sits high on the Corniche with the city skyline to the east and the Arabian Gulf to the west; the sunset hour (book 6:30pm in winter, 7:15pm in summer) has closed more engagements than most restaurants attempt in a decade. The Lebanese menu, meanwhile, keeps the meal comfortably rooted — no one is navigating an unfamiliar tasting grammar during a critical dinner.
Signature Dishes
Mezze selection (hummus, moutabal, tabbouleh); charcoal-grilled lamb kofta; tagine of lamb shoulder with prunes; ma'amoul.
