About Restaurant ET
Restaurant ET is the Aarhus bistro that locals quietly tell out-of-town friends to book before anything else. Opened in 2006 on Åboulevarden and steered by chef Lasse Vinther for over a decade, it is the room Aarhus has chosen as its default special-occasion restaurant — the one where the waiter knows your name because your colleague came last month.
The dining room is classic Nordic bistro dressed up a notch: white tablecloths, heavy blown-glass candlesticks, open kitchen at the back, banquettes lining the long wall. It runs on a simple three-course format that comes in at barely 450 DKK, which in 2026 Aarhus is a small miracle.
The cooking is cheerfully, unapologetically classical. Beef tartare arrives with egg yolk and sourdough; a plate of pan-fried plaice is finished with brown butter, capers and shrimps; the crème brûlée is glass-smooth. The wine list hides some genuinely interesting Burgundy at drinking prices.
Groups of eight, ten, twelve book out a long banquette on Fridays. The volume rises with the room; the service keeps up. Reservation Tetris is harder than anywhere else in the city — a month out for weekends is not unusual — but once you are in, it delivers without fail.
Why It's Perfect for Team Dinner
ET is the most forgiving team-dinner room in Aarhus. The three-course format solves the ordering argument; the price point keeps the finance team happy; the menu has enough variety — meat, fish, vegetable — that picky eaters are not punished; and the room is loud enough that one table's big laugh does not embarrass the neighbours. For a team of eight it is almost engineered to work.
