Top 10 Michelin Restaurants in the USA, 2026
The ten Michelin-starred restaurants in America that defined the year. Three-star institutions from New York to Yountville, two-star contenders from Atomix to Saison, and one revelatory Vegas wildcard. Ranked by RFK editorial, for the dinner that has to register.
By Fredrik Filipsson · Updated 2026-05-17
The Michelin Guide currently covers thirteen American jurisdictions: New York, Washington DC, Chicago, California, Florida, Texas, Atlanta, Colorado, the Northeast, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, the Midwest, and most recently the American South. Across those guides the United States now holds fourteen three-star restaurants and forty-six two-star restaurants. The ten below are the rooms RFK editors would book first in 2026 if we had one Michelin dinner to spend.
Ranking is not by star count alone. A two-star room with a chef visibly in the kitchen frequently outperforms a three-star room running on autopilot. The list weights consistency over the past twenty-four months, kitchen leadership stability, the experience of being a non-VIP guest on a Tuesday in February, and the metric that decides most ties: whether the meal still feels personal at course twelve.
Three-star rooms make up most of the top of this list, but the list deliberately includes one-star and two-star rooms that punch above their tier. Atomix is here not because it has two stars but because it is, in the editors' view, the most considered tasting menu in America right now. Bazaar Meat at SLS is here because what Jose Andres is doing on a Vegas Strip basement floor has no parallel in the global Michelin atlas.
Eleven Madison Park
Madison Square Park, New York · Plant-Based Tasting · $$$$
Daniel Humm's three-star plant-only reset remains, in 2026, the most argued-about Michelin dinner in America and the most accomplished. The clarity of the broths alone justifies the booking.

The French Laundry
Yountville, California · French American Tasting · $$$$

Chef: Masa Takayama
Tasting length: 15+ pieces nigiri plus traditional courses, 2.5 hours
SingleThread
Healdsburg, California · California Kaiseki · $$$$

Tasting length: 11 courses, 3 hours
Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare
Hudson Yards, New York · French Japanese Tasting · $$$$

Atomix
NoMad, New York · Modern Korean Tasting · $$$$

Stars: Three Michelin stars
Chef: Eric Ripert
Tasting length: 7 courses, 2.5 hours
Saison
SoMa, San Francisco · California Wood-Fire Tasting · $$$$
Saison's open-hearth kitchen in San Francisco remains the most physically thrilling Michelin dinner in America. The kitchen is the room. The fire is the ingredient. Three stars and they have never coasted.

Chef: Richard Lee
Tasting length: 15 courses, 3 hours
Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres
SLS, Las Vegas · Avant-Garde Spanish Steakhouse · $$$$
Jose Andres' Vegas steak-and-foam laboratory inside SLS. Two Michelin stars (Las Vegas debut guide 2024) and the most fun Michelin dinner in America. The cotton candy foie gras alone would justify the booking.

Chef: Jose Andres; Phillip Frankland Lee
Tasting length: Chef's tasting 10 courses; a la carte available
The Verdict
America's Michelin map is wider than it was five years ago. Atlanta, Texas, Florida, Colorado and the American South all have stars now. But the centre of gravity remains New York and California. Nine of the ten three-star restaurants in the United States are concentrated between those two states. The list above reflects that imbalance honestly.
What has shifted in 2026 is the rate at which two-star rooms are catching the three-stars. Atomix is the cleanest example, but Bazaar Meat, Melisse in Santa Monica, Bresca in DC, and Kann in Portland are all delivering meals that, on a good night, eclipse three-star rooms running on the same recipes they used in 2019. That gap is closing and the next three-star promotions in the 2027 guide are not difficult to predict.
For the reader booking one Michelin dinner this year, the editors' guidance is simple: the chef has to be in the kitchen the night you go. Per Se, Eleven Madison Park, The French Laundry, and Le Bernardin all run a confirmed-chef calendar that the captain will share if you ask. Atomix is so small that the chefs are guaranteed. SingleThread the same. Masa is Masa Takayama at the counter, every service.
Pricing has stabilised. The $400-$450 three-star tasting menu is the 2026 norm. Masa remains the outlier at $950. Saison sits between at $525. Add 25 percent for wine pairing and another 20 percent for tax and tip and the all-in cost of a top-five Michelin dinner in America in 2026 is roughly $750-$850 per person. That is a real number. Plan accordingly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many three-star Michelin restaurants are in the USA in 2026?
Fourteen, across New York (six), California (six), Washington DC (one) and Chicago (one). Per Se, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Masa, Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, and Atelier Crenn-related siblings in California sit at the top of the count.
Which Michelin restaurants in the USA have the longest lead times?
Eleven Madison Park (10-14 weeks), Masa (8-12 weeks), and SingleThread (6-10 weeks) consistently sit at the top of the list. The French Laundry uses Tock and tickets release exactly 60 days out. Atomix uses Resy with reservations opening 12 weeks out.
Is a three-star Michelin dinner worth the cost?
RFK's view: yes for two or three landmark occasions in a life (engagement, anniversary, milestone career moment) and once a year for the diner who is genuinely tracking the global Michelin map. Beyond that frequency, the two-star tier offers meaningfully better value with food that is, on a good night, indistinguishable.
What is the dress code at the top three-star USA Michelin restaurants?
Jacket required at Per Se, Le Bernardin, The French Laundry, and Daniel. Eleven Madison Park, SingleThread, and Atomix sit at smart elegant: no athletic wear or shorts but no jacket required. Masa is the same at the counter.
Which Michelin restaurant should I book for a proposal?
Eleven Madison Park, Per Se, and SingleThread are the three rooms most commonly cited for proposal dinners by RFK readers. All three accommodate ring drop-offs, custom courses, and printed menus with the date. SingleThread is the only one that offers rooms upstairs for the night.
