Head-to-Head
Gaggan Anand vs Le Du
Gaggan for the show; Le Du for the cooking.
The Verdict
Gaggan for the show; Le Du for the cooking.
Gaggan Anand is Asia's most theatrical fine-dining experience — the chef's flagship after the closure of the original Gaggan, with a full performance-art sequence (25 courses including the tongue dish, the lick-the-plate course, the whisky pour). The cooking is technically excellent and conceptually fearless. Asia's 50 Best #5 in 2026.
Le Du is Ton Tassanakajohn's modern-Thai room in Silom — Asia's #1 in 2023, currently #4 in Asia's 50 Best. The cooking is more technically refined than Gaggan, more focused on Thai ingredient sourcing, and the meal is shorter and quieter. The format reads as the cooking, not as the show.
