About Lijiang Riverside

Lijiang Riverside Restaurant occupies the second floor of a low-rise building directly on the Li River bank in central Yangshuo, with a continuous bay window facing the river and the karst mountains beyond. The restaurant is one of the few proper higher-end dinner rooms in town and is the city's most-recommended single answer for visiting business clients or for any dinner where the view matters.

The kitchen runs as Modern Chinese with Cantonese influence — Guangxi-Province ingredients prepared with Cantonese fine-dining technique. A typical meal: a small dim-sum amuse (Yangshuo dumpling, har gow); a sashimi-style Li River prawn course; a Cantonese-style steamed Li River fish (the high-end version of beer fish, here served as a whole fish with ginger-and-scallion); a Yangshuo-style stuffed tofu course; a Cantonese-fried-rice course with cured pork; and a small egg-tart dessert. Pricing runs ¥280-450 per person.

The room seats sixty across the main hall plus four window-side private booths used for business and special-occasion entertaining. Sunset hour (6:30-7:30pm depending on season) is when the restaurant's view peaks — the karst mountains are silhouetted against the western sky, the Li River reflects the orange of the dusk, and the bamboo-rafts that ply the river still in the early evening pass directly below the bay windows.

Reservations matter for window seats on Friday-Saturday evenings and during Chinese national holiday weeks; one week ahead is usually enough. The restaurant accepts cards and English-speaking staff are present at the front-of-house. The wine list is short (twelve bottles) but includes both French and Chinese options.

Best Occasion Fit

Birthdays — the Li River sunset view, the Cantonese-fine-dining format, and the multi-course meal scale into a celebratory format. For impressing visiting clients with a single Yangshuo dinner, the river view does work that no other restaurant in town can match. Closing-the-deal dinners with smaller two-or-three-person groups fit the window-booth format perfectly.
