Whaley's opened in Navy Yard in 2016 — a waterfront modern-American dining room dedicated to the proposition that the Yards Park needed a working casual-fine-dining destination. The dining room is intentionally relaxed: a raw-bar counter at the front, banquettes along the eastern wall, a waterfront patio.
Eater DC has held Whaley's on its top-Navy-Yard rankings every year of operation.
The Food
The raw-bar programme runs Mid-Atlantic and East-Coast oysters. The lobster roll, the seasonal-rotating Mid-Atlantic seafood, the brunch programme handle the menu's wider draws.
Wine programme tilts toward Champagne. Cocktails are classic-American. Service is informed and warm.
