The Room
The Black Restaurant Group opened Pearl Dive on 14th Street in 2011 — a serious oyster bar with a New Orleans-influenced kitchen. The dining room is intentionally relaxed: exposed brick, a long oyster bar at the front, banquettes along the eastern wall.
The Washington Post has held Pearl Dive on its top-oyster-bar rankings every year of operation.
The Food
The oyster programme runs the daily Mid-Atlantic and Gulf varieties. The crawfish boil in season, the gumbo, the seasonal-rotating Gulf-influenced plates handle the menu's wider draws.
Wine programme tilts toward Champagne and white-Burgundy. Cocktails are New Orleans-classic. Service is informed and warm.
