The Room
Don Alfonso 1890 is the Toronto outpost of the Iaccarino family's two-Michelin-star Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi flagship in Campania. The Westin Harbour Castle is the address — 38th floor, picture-window views of Lake Ontario and the Toronto Islands — and the room is dressed in the Sorrento Coast register the family's hospitality is built on. The restaurant won a Michelin star in 2022 and has retained it every edition since.
The dining room seats roughly 90 across the main floor and a private dining room. Service is brigade-Italian with the warmth Sorrento hospitality is known for. The view from the corner two-tops at sunset is the most theatrical fine-dining seat in Toronto.
The Food
The kitchen is run by Daniele Corona on Toronto duty under the Iaccarinos' supervision. Menus rotate seasonally and pull from Campania and Naples — San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, Sorrento lemons, Cetara colatura, sfogliatelle. Signature courses include the bottomless bread programme that the sommelier matches with EVOO; the linguine with sea urchin and lemon zest; the Wagyu cooked over chestnut wood; and the babà al rhum that the family considers their household dessert.
Wine programme runs Italian with serious depth — Campanian whites, Tuscan and Piedmontese reds, Sicilian sweet — and the by-the-glass programme is generous. The Limoncello service at the end is the room's signature flourish.
