About Los Trujis

Los Trujis is a family-run hostal-restaurant in Malpica de Tajo, a Tajo-side village about 30km west of Toledo. The Trujillo brothers run it together — David in the dining room, chef Pedro Trujillo at the stove — and the kitchen earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide 2025 for proximity cooking that grows from its own organic garden. National Geographic flagged the village as a surprising place to eat well in 2025.

The cooking pairs Castilian family recipes with modern technique. It sits among the strongest tables in Toledo province, alongside Iván Cerdeño's two-Michelin-star Iván Cerdeño and the long-running Adolfo in the old town.

The Kitchen

The signature run is generous and personal: a Magnum de carrilleras (braised pork cheek), a croissant of steak tartare, and a Manchego cheesecake that won the IV National Manchego Cheesecake contest in 2024. Pedro's ham croquettes were a finalist for Spain's best at Madrid Fusíon 2024, and game dishes appear in season.

It is modern Spanish cooking built as a tasting menu around €55, with house sourdough breads; for traditional Castilian cooking in the old town instead, La Orza is a short drive away.

The Room

The dining room is small and unfussy, part of a roadside hostal in a quiet village, with the warmth of a place run by one family. Service is led by David Trujillo, who walks guests through the menu and the wines, and the pace is relaxed rather than ceremonial.

Best for an anniversary

The set tasting, personal service and out-of-town calm make Los Trujis a relaxed anniversary table, and the intimate room also suits a memorable first date.

Not for

Not for a quick city-centre bite — Los Trujis sits in a Tajo-side village some 30km from Toledo and works best as a planned, sit-down tasting.
