About Risorgimento

Risorgimento is the chef-driven mid-village dining room of Mauro Pansera — a Lake Garda native who took the Piazza Carducci townhouse in 2016 and built a programme that quietly displaced the lake-front view-rooms as the village's most reliable mid-tier dinner. The restaurant occupies a converted 19th-century townhouse on the village's central piazza, with a stone-vaulted ground floor, a single open kitchen at the back wall, and forty-two covers across two rooms.

The menu is short and seasonal — a dozen à la carte plates rewritten monthly, plus a five-course chef-pick tasting at €85 — and unapologetically Lombardian-Veneto in sourcing. A hand-rolled tortelli with Mantua pumpkin and amaretto crumb; a slow-cooked Lariano lamb shoulder with thyme and Polenta taragna; a smoked Lake Garda whitefish with horseradish butter; a wood-fired Lake Garda pike with butter and sage; the famous 'tortino alla nocciola' — a Piedmontese hazelnut cake with Garda-honey gelato.

The wine list is one of the most interesting in the village — 300 references built around Lombardian and Veronese smallholders, including a few Valtellina cult bottlings (Ar.Pe.Pe, Sandro Fay) and a serious Amarone vertical (Quintarelli, Dal Forno, Tommaso Bussola). Glass pours start at €7. Sommelier Pansera himself runs the floor.

The room runs at a moderate volume — the cellar walls absorb sound, the booking math caps at forty-two covers, and the chef-driven format is a meaningfully different experience from the village's lake-front rooms. Risorgimento is the room that the village's serious cooks (the chef teams from La Speranzina, La Rucola 2.0) take their nights off in.

Why It's Perfect for First Date

Risorgimento is the easy-first-date room in Sirmione — quieter than the lake-front terraces, less formal than La Rucola 2.0, and chef-driven enough to be a meaningful conversation starter. Book the corner two-top by the open kitchen; ask Pansera for the Valtellina-Amarone comparative pairing — three glasses across two regional Nebbiolo expressions.
