About Sobretablas
The story of Sobretablas is the story of two people who trained at the finest restaurant in the world and chose to come home. Camila Ferraro and Robert Tetas met at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona — the restaurant that has held three Michelin stars for decades and trained a generation of chefs who have since opened some of the best restaurants in Spain. They chose Seville. They chose El Porvenir. They chose a building that most restaurants would have sold their concept to occupy: a beautifully restored structure from the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, with high ceilings, large windows, and a terrace that extends the dining experience into the city's gentle evening air.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand acknowledges restaurants of exceptional quality at moderate prices. Sobretablas has earned that recognition and worn it with the quiet confidence of a kitchen that knows exactly what it is doing. Ferraro's cooking is rooted in local and seasonal produce — specific farms, specific growers, specific moments in the Andalusian year — and she applies a technique refined at the highest level without allowing it to overwhelm the ingredients' identity.
The dining room admits a maximum of 35 guests, which gives every service the feel of a private event. The Sobretablas tasting menu, currently priced around €68, includes an optional wine pairing selected by Tetas — who manages the front of house and sommelier duties with the same considered intelligence his partner brings to the kitchen. The Sobretablas Deluxe menu adds additional courses for guests who want the kitchen's full range of expression.
Book as far ahead as possible. The restaurant's calendar typically fills within days of opening, particularly on weekends and during the spring and autumn high seasons.
Why it excels for First Dates
Sobretablas is the best first date restaurant in Seville that does not require a Michelin-star budget. The room is beautiful — genuinely beautiful, not beautiful in the way that restaurants describe themselves. High ceilings, morning light softened by afternoon, a terrace that makes any evening feel appropriately celebratory. The tasting menu format removes the anxiety of choosing and creates a shared experience with a natural arc. The service is warm without fuss. The food inspires conversation rather than silence. When you book Sobretablas for a first date, you are communicating that you know how Seville works from the inside.
