The Room
Makini Howell opened Plum Bistro on 12th Avenue in 2009 — a Black-American-Chef-driven plant-based dining room dedicated to the proposition that vegan cooking deserved a fine-dining expression at full restaurant scale. Sixteen years later Plum is the working argument for plant-based fine dining in the Pacific Northwest.
Eater Seattle has held Plum Bistro on its top-vegan-restaurant rankings every year of operation.
The Food
The plant-based menu runs across global traditions — Cajun-influenced gumbo, Italian-American comfort, Mediterranean-inspired plates. The seasonal-rotating preparations handle the menu's centre.
Wine programme tilts toward natural and biodynamic producers. Cocktails are short and considered.
