About Ditas
The former home of the San Francisco Yacht Club is not a space that forgives a mediocre kitchen. The view from 562 Bridgeway — San Francisco glittering across the water, Angel Island holding its position mid-bay, the last light of a Marin evening doing its honest work across the surface — is the kind that demands a dining room willing to match it in ambition. Ditas, opened in 2023, has made a credible case that it can.
Executive Chef John Carney runs a California Coastal menu that keeps the focus on provenance: local fish, Marin produce, and proteins sourced from ranches that take their animals seriously. The linguine with mussels has emerged as a signature — briny, precise, built on a bisque that concentrates the best of the bay into a single bowl. Wagyu beef tacos are a more playful gesture, and they land correctly: the fat rendered just so, the accompaniments restrained enough to let the beef perform. The Dungeness crab Benedict at brunch is a statement dish in the truest sense.
The private dining room handles business dinners and celebrations with the discretion they require. The heated bay-view patio is the correct choice for any meal where the sky is the point. The lounge occupies the middle ground — excellent for drinks before a table becomes available, or as a destination in its own right after dinner elsewhere.
Service across all spaces has been attentive since opening, with a team that understands the difference between professional and performative hospitality. Ditas is still finding its cadence — ambitious new restaurants in spectacular spaces take time to settle — but the trajectory is unambiguous. The space deserves it. So does Sausalito.
Best For: Proposal & Impressing Clients
The combination of the former yacht club setting, the patio with unobstructed bay views, and a menu that signals genuine culinary ambition makes Ditas one of the strongest proposal venues in the Bay Area. The private dining room can be reserved for the occasion, giving total discretion. The view at sunset has done its share of the work before the question is even asked.
For client entertainment, Ditas communicates taste, discretion, and knowledge of Marin — the person who books here is someone worth doing business with. The food is serious without being inaccessible, the wine list is thoughtfully curated, and the service understands what client-facing dining requires without needing to be told.
