Best Restaurants Open Monday in Salzburg 2026

Open Monday · Salzburg · 6 rooms confirmed · Updated June 2026

Compiled by the Restaurants for Kings editorial team · Published June 19, 2026 · Updated June 19, 2026

Salzburg's two finest kitchens, Ikarus at Hangar-7 and M32 on the Monchsberg, both lock the door on Monday. That is the pattern across the city's ambitious rooms, which give the brigade a day at the start of the week. What stays open is older and more rooted: an abbey dining room that has fed travellers since the ninth century, and a run of monastery beer halls and family Wirtshauser that never close for a quiet Monday.

St. Peter Stiftskulinarium

Historic Austrian fine dining · Old Town · $$$ · Open Monday 12:30–23:00

Europe's oldest dining room, serving beneath the abbey since AD 803, open every Monday. Book it for a night with out-of-town guests.

St. Peter Stiftskulinarium sits inside the walls of St. Peter's Abbey in the Old Town, with a written record going back to AD 803, which makes it the oldest restaurant in Europe still in service. The dining rooms range from vaulted stone cellars to the Baroque Prunksaal, and the kitchen runs from refined Austrian classics to a tasting menu.

It serves Monday lunch and dinner from 12:30 to 23:00, seven days a week, when the city's Michelin kitchens take the night off. That makes it the obvious Monday choice for a celebration or a meal with visitors.

The Mozart Dinner Concert in the Baroque hall is the signature evening, pairing the menu with live chamber music, so book ahead for that.

Carpe Diem

Modern fine fingerfood · Getreidegasse · $$$ · Mon gourmet 12:00 + 18:30

Red Bull's finest-fingerfood room on Getreidegasse, open Monday lunch and dinner. Go for a polished Monday meal in the Old Town.

Carpe Diem on Getreidegasse, Salzburg's most famous shopping street, is a Red Bull project that built its name on fingerfood, small refined courses served in pastry cones. The ground-floor lounge runs all day, while the upstairs gourmet restaurant keeps the ambition high.

The gourmet room serves Monday lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 18:30 to 22:00, and the lounge opens Monday from 8:30 in the morning. That gives you a polished Monday option in the Old Town centre when the tasting rooms are dark.

Sit upstairs for the full menu, or take a lounge table for the cones and a glass of Gruner Veltliner.

Augustiner Brau

Monastery beer hall · Mulln · $$ · Open Monday 15:00–23:00

Salzburg's 400-year-old monastery beer hall, pouring from wooden barrels every Monday afternoon. Go for a relaxed Monday with a stein and pretzel.

Augustiner Brau, the Mullner Brausubl in the Mulln district, has poured beer since 1621 and remains the city's great communal table. You collect a stone stein, rinse it at the fountain, and have it filled straight from a wooden barrel, then carry it to long benches in the halls or the chestnut-shaded garden.

It opens Monday from 15:00 to 23:00, and the Schmankerl stalls along the corridor sell roast pork, pretzels and Stelze to eat with the beer. It is walk-in only, which makes it the easiest Monday table in town.

Come for the garden on a warm Monday evening, when half of Salzburg seems to be there.

Barenwirt

Traditional Austrian Wirtshaus · Mulln · $$ · Open Monday 11:00–23:00

The 1663 Wirtshaus in Mulln, open all day Monday for schnitzel and Bierbraten. The reliable Monday table for Austrian classics.

Barenwirt on Mullner Hauptstrasse has cooked since 1663, a proper Wirtshaus a short walk from the Augustiner brewery. The kitchen does the Austrian canon properly: Wiener schnitzel from veal, a beer-braised Bierbraten, and a crisp roast duck in season.

It serves Monday all day from 11:00 to 23:00, so it covers a long lunch or an early dinner when much of the Old Town is winding down. That full-day service makes it one of the most dependable Monday tables in Salzburg.

Pair the meal with a beer from the brewery next door, and leave room for the Salzburger Nockerl.

Zum Fidelen Affen

Traditional Gastwirtschaft · Old Town · $$ · Open Monday 17:00–24:00

The cosy Old Town Gastwirtschaft, open Monday evenings for dumplings and Tafelspitz. Book it for a low-key Monday dinner with locals.

Zum Fidelen Affen on Priesterhausgasse, near the Linzergasse, is a snug Gastwirtschaft whose name translates as "the merry monkey," a long-running favourite with Salzburgers rather than coach tours. The menu runs to Kaspressknodel dumplings, Tafelspitz boiled beef and seasonal Austrian plates.

It serves Monday evenings from 17:00 to midnight and is closed only on Sundays, so it is a reliable start-of-week dinner. The room is small and warm, which makes booking worthwhile even on a Monday.

Sit near the bar for the local crowd and a Stiegl on tap.

Die Weisse

Wheat-beer brewpub · Schallmoos · $$ · Open Monday to 24:00, kitchen to 22:00

Salzburg's wheat-beer brewpub since 1901, hot kitchen running until 22:00 every Monday. Go for a casual Monday across the river in Schallmoos.

Die Weisse on Rupertgasse in Schallmoos has brewed its own Weissbier since 1901, a working brewery with a Wirtshaus and a shaded courtyard attached. The kitchen sends out schnitzel, Bratl and dumplings built to drink the unfiltered wheat beer alongside.

It opens Monday from 10:00 to midnight, with the hot kitchen running until 22:00 and closing only on Sundays. That long Monday service, just east of the river, makes it an easy table away from the Old Town crush.

Ask for the Weisse Spezial and a seat in the Kesselhaus if the courtyard is full.

Salzburg rooms that close on Monday

Ikarus. The two-Michelin-star room inside Red Bull's Hangar-7, with its rotating guest-chef concept, is closed Monday and Tuesday and serves Wednesday to Sunday. Book it midweek, or go to St. Peter Stiftskulinarium for a Monday.

M32. Sepp Schellhorn's Mediterranean room on top of the Monchsberg, with its view over the rooftops, is dark Monday and opens Tuesday to Sunday. Plan it for later in the week, and book Carpe Diem for a Monday instead.

How to dine out on a Monday in Salzburg

Salzburg's Monday pattern is set by its best kitchens: Ikarus and M32 both close, and several of the fine-dining rooms follow. The workaround is to lean on the city's historic and traditional tables, which keep longer weeks. St. Peter Stiftskulinarium covers the occasion end, Carpe Diem holds the modern fine-dining line, and the beer halls and Wirtshauser cover everything more relaxed.

Reservations are worth making at St. Peter, Carpe Diem and Zum Fidelen Affen, while Augustiner Brau is walk-in only and seats large groups with ease. In festival season from late July the city fills, so book earlier.
