About Max Cekot Kitchen

Max Cekot Kitchen was Riga's first fine-dining restaurant to operate exclusively on a set-menu format — no a la carte, no flexibility, just chef Max Cekot's nine-course tasting menu served three evenings per week in a converted woodwork factory on the edge of Riga's creative quarter. The Michelin star came quickly, confirming a level of cooking that had been obvious to Latvian food-lovers since the restaurant opened.

Cekot's cooking style is seasonal and Latvian in its foundations: local fish from the Baltic and Latvia's network of inland rivers and lakes, game from the forests of eastern Latvia, wild herbs and vegetables from the country's growing community of artisan producers, dairy products from small Latvian farms that maintain traditional techniques. The nine courses tell a coherent seasonal story — spring's morels and asparagus give way to summer's berries and river fish, which yield to autumn's game and root vegetables and winter's cured and preserved preparations.

The woodwork factory setting has been converted with an intelligence that preserves its industrial character while creating a dining environment of genuine warmth. Exposed beams, brick walls, and careful lighting create a room that feels both serious and welcoming — the right balance for tasting menu dining that runs two to three hours. The kitchen pass is visible from the dining room, and Cekot's team has the quiet precision of a kitchen that has cooked the same menu hundreds of times without losing the sense of occasion.

A vegetarian alternative is available. A service fee of 10% is added to all bills. The wine programme draws on natural and biodynamic producers from Latvia, Estonia, and the broader natural wine circuit, with pairings available for the full menu.
