About Hycesia
Hycesia is the Lentini-family-run mid-village dining room in San Pietro — Panarea's only village, with the harbour and most hotels — and is the island's most reliable chef-driven serious dining room. The space is a converted Aeolian-island house with original whitewashed stone walls, exposed wooden beams, and forty-eight covers across an indoor dining room and an outdoor sea-view terrace.
The cuisine is contemporary Sicilian-Aeolian. Signatures include a hand-rolled busiate alla trapanese with Mazzara red prawn; a slow-cooked Mediterranean octopus with green olive and lemon confit; a Pachino-tomato risotto with Avola almonds; a wood-fired Aeolian-island dentice with capers and Aeolian-salt crust; the famous 'cassata aeolian' — a regional cassata with Lipari Malvasia ricotta.
The wine list runs to 200 references with deep Aeolian smallholder coverage — Lipari Malvasia, Salina Malvasia, Pantelleria Passito — and a respectable Sicilian and Italian-national section. Glass pours start at €5.
The dining room and outdoor terrace together hold sixty covers. The summer terrace is the experience: south-facing, with a direct view across the Tyrrhenian to the Stromboli volcano. Service is family-run — the Lentini siblings rotate the floor.
Why It's Perfect for Birthday
Hycesia is the birthday-night room in Panarea — the small-village setting is the conversation, the kitchen's mid-tier register is reachable, and the south-facing terrace gives a Stromboli view at sunset. Book the corner four-top on the terrace at sunset.
