About Da Claudia

Da Claudia is the Capone-family-run bakery, rosticceria and gastronomia institution on Via San Pietro — the main lane from the harbour to the village centre, two streets from the Hotel Raya road — and is Panarea's most reliable budget-aware mid-day destination. The Capone family have run the kitchen for over twenty-five years and the menu is built around classic Sicilian baked goods and small-plate gastronomia.

The menu runs to dozens of canonical Sicilian baked goods. Arancini in three varieties (ragu, butter, pistachio) made fresh daily; sfincione palermitano — Palermitan pizza with anchovies, tomatoes and Caciocavallo; focaccia siciliana with cherry tomatoes and oregano; cannoli ricotta with Iblei sheep's-milk filling; the famous 'pasta al forno' — Sicilian baked pasta with ragu and béchamel; a Sicilian-style 'panini' programme that uses the bakery's daily sourdough and regional cured meats.

There is no formal wine list; the shop runs a small parallel café programme with espresso, Sicilian almond milk, granita and Modica chocolate hot drinks. The shop also stocks a tightly chosen Sicilian-smallholder wine selection (Etna DOC, Lipari Malvasia, Pantelleria Passito) for guests who want a takeaway bottle.

Service is family-run — Claudia Capone herself runs the shop floor, the captains have worked the property for years. Da Claudia is the dining destination that visiting Italians, Aeolian families, and serious-budget travellers all use as the default Panarea mid-day stop.

Why It's Perfect for Solo Dining

Da Claudia is the solo-dining destination in Panarea — the family-run bakery institution is the conversation, the budget-aware register makes any meal accessible, and the harbour-front location makes it functionally walkable from any island address. It is also the easy first-date answer when both diners want a casual mid-day Sicilian lunch programme. No reservations; arrive 11:00–13:30 for the lunch programme.
