The Verdict

The Lagoon Club is the second signature dining room at Amanpulo, located on the resort's lagoon-side with views across the protected lagoon toward the outer reef. The restaurant was added in the early 2000s as the resort's second dining-room option and was configured around a pan-Asian programme specifically to complement the Mediterranean-Filipino focus of the Beach Club.

The menu is a pan-Asian-and-Filipino programme — a dedicated Thai section (the green curry, the tom yum, a larb that uses the local goat meat), a Vietnamese section (pho, a banh xeo, a goi ga chicken salad), a Japanese section anchored on a sushi and sashimi bar that uses the morning catch, and the Filipino section that overlaps with the Beach Club's regional-Palawan sourcing. The kitchen's pan-Asian range is specific — each regional cuisine is treated as a serious programme rather than as a decorative menu-component.

The dining room seats approximately 45 in an open-air thatch-roofed pavilion, with the sushi and sashimi bar configured as a counter for 10 that operates as a separate sub-format during evening service. The open-kitchen design means that the diners can observe the full preparation of their meals, and the chef-counter format is the preferred seating for couples and small-group reservations.

The Lagoon Club is considered, within the Aman-resort dining circuit, the more-approachable of the Amanpulo two-restaurant programme — the Beach Club carries a more formal register and the Lagoon Club is the setting for longer, more-conversational dinners. For the first-date or the celebration-of-relationship occasion, it is the preferred Amanpulo room; for the full-formal occasion, the Beach Club remains the default.

Why It Works for First Date

The Lagoon Club at Amanpulo is the Palawan first-date room at the Aman register. A pan-Asian programme — Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Filipino — that offers variety and creativity without the full-formality of the Beach Club, an open-kitchen setting that makes the meal itself part of the evening's conversation, and the Aman service standard that supports the occasion without ever being intrusive.
