The Restaurant

SOA opened in January 2026 on the 30th floor of Nakanoshima Festival Tower West, directly overlooking Midosuji — Osaka's main boulevard — with the Yodo River and the cityscape extending to the horizon. Each dish at SOA expresses a clear philosophy: honouring nature, life, and intention. This is not marketing language; it is the basis on which the kitchen makes every sourcing, preparation, and presentation decision.

The omakase programme at SOA is built around Osaka Prefecture's seasonal produce, supplemented by specific ingredients from the Kinki region that the chef has sourced through direct farmer relationships established over years of previous kitchen work. The progression runs through approximately twelve courses, each prepared at the counter in full view of the eight guests and placed directly before them by the chef. A cold-smoked dashi of Osaka bay clams that opens the palate with the precision of a tuning fork. Grilled amadai — tilefish — with its scales rendered crisp by a technique the chef has refined specifically for this restaurant. A wagyu preparation from a Mie Prefecture producer that the kitchen has exclusive supply of.

The 30th-floor room is designed with floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides, making the Osaka cityscape the dining room's dominant visual element. By day the Yodo River delta is visible to the north; at night the Midosuji illuminations and the grid of the city below create the most dramatic restaurant view in Osaka.

SOA was already attracting significant attention in Osaka's dining community within weeks of opening, and the new Michelin 2026 Guide selected it for recognition. For a restaurant open less than four months at time of publication, this is extraordinary.

Best Occasion Fit

Impress Clients: SOA combines the most spectacular restaurant view in Osaka with a kitchen programme that is clearly headed toward multi-star recognition. It is simultaneously the newest and most consequential table in the city.

Close a Deal: The omakase counter at SOA, thirty floors above Midosuji with a view of the city, provides a business dinner setting of complete distinction. The kitchen's focus and the room's visual authority create the conditions for important decisions.

Birthday: A birthday at SOA — the tower view, the omakase progression, the newest destination in the city — is a milestone dinner that marks the occasion with a setting that does not yet have the saturation of established restaurants.

What Guests Say

Marcus Webb Impress Clients

I booked SOA for a business dinner six weeks after it opened. The Mie Prefecture wagyu course was the best beef preparation I have had in Japan outside of Tokyo's top tier. The view from the 30th floor at night is an asset that no other Osaka restaurant possesses.
