The Multi-Room Journey Through Winter Park

There is no table at Ômo by Jônt. There is a living room, a chef's counter, a pastry parlour, and a sequence of spaces that are designed to shift the emotional register of the meal as the evening progresses. This is by intention. Chef Ryan Ratino opened Ômo — which means "surface" or "face" in Japanese — as a physically smaller, more accessible companion to his Washington DC flagship Jônt, which holds two Michelin stars. The goal was not a lesser version of Jônt. It was a different kind of experience entirely.

Sixteen guests per seating. The format moves. You begin in a reception area designed like a private living room — a glass of something cold, a few snacks, an easing-in that removes the rigidity of formal dining. Then to the counter, where the serious preparations begin. Then, if the evening calls for it, to the pastry space where the final act arrives in a register that feels specifically designed to leave you wanting nothing more.

The result is one of the most genuinely theatrical dining experiences in Florida — not theatrical in the sense of performance anxiety, but in the sense that the architecture of the evening is doing real work. The menu exists in two forms: The Journey ($195 per person) and The Jaunt, the latter featuring over twenty preparations showcasing luxury ingredients with the precision you expect from a kitchen with serious Michelin pedigree. Wine Spectator awarded Ômo its Award of Excellence, which gives some indication of the beverage program's depth.

The Food: Luxury Ingredients, Japanese Precision

Ratino's cooking at Ômo leans into the interplay between Japanese technique and global luxury ingredients — the kind of approach that requires a kitchen operating at the highest level of technical confidence. Wagyu in its various cuts, extraordinary fish sourced with the specificity that only a chef with serious supplier relationships can manage, and a pastry program that treats dessert as a proper course rather than an afterthought.

The tasting progression is designed to build — each preparation a studied statement, not a rambling. The sake and wine pairing program is worth the addition. The sommelier team at Ômo has clearly been briefed on the expectation level arriving with every guest, and they match it.

Best For: Solo Dining, Proposal & Impress Clients

Ômo by Jônt is, first and most obviously, the finest expression of intentional solo dining in the Orlando area. The counter format — intimate, sequential, focused — is built for the diner who wants the full attention of a kitchen directed at them, without distraction. Eating alone here is not a compromise. It is a specific kind of luxury.

For a proposal, the multi-room format provides natural inflection points — the transition from the counter to the final room is a moment of movement and anticipation that an attentive guest could use to tremendous effect. Call ahead. The team at Ômo understands these occasions.

For impressing clients, a reservation here sends a message that very few restaurants in central Florida can transmit: that you know where the serious food is, that you made the effort to book it, and that the evening ahead is not incidental. The Michelin star does the credentialing. The food justifies it.
