About M's Pub

M's Pub has anchored a corner of Omaha's cobblestoned Old Market since 1972, named for founder Mary Vogel - the original "M" - and now run by the Mellen family's Ann Mellen and Ron Samuelson. It is the most beloved bistro in our Omaha guide and a downtown special-occasion mainstay.

After a 2016 fire forced a closure, the room was painstakingly rebuilt to match the original with help from its first designers. More than five decades on, it remains a byword for chef-driven food and a serious wine list at the centre of the Old Market.

The Kitchen

The signature is the Lahvosh - a crisp Armenian flatbread loaded with toppings, served in versions from a bacon cheeseburger Lahvosh to the Thai and Santa Fe shrimp. Around it runs a seasonal American bistro menu and a creative, much-praised wine list that has defined the room for decades.

This is confident, comforting cooking rather than fine-dining theatre - generous plates, a famous shareable starter and the kind of consistency that keeps regulars coming back across generations.

The Room

The room is warm and characterful, brick-walled and bistro-snug, set among the galleries and cobbled streets of the Old Market. It runs equally well for a date, a celebration dinner or a relaxed business meal, with a busy bar at its heart.

It fills most evenings, so reservations are recommended, especially at weekends and around downtown events.

Best for a date or Old Market celebration

M's Pub suits a romantic first date, a relaxed business dinner, or a birthday in the Old Market. For other Omaha tables, compare V. Mertz, Le Bouillon or Au Courant.

Not for

Not for a tasting-menu occasion or a fast, cheap bite - it is a characterful sit-down bistro built around shared Lahvosh, wine and an unhurried evening.
