The Catbird Seat
The counter: a U-shaped counter wrapped around the open kitchen · 13 courses, $195 · books by date each month
The Catbird Seat invented the format in Nashville and still does it best. Since 2025 it has cooked from the fifth floor of the Bill Voorhees Building on 8th Avenue South, where chefs Tiffani Ortiz and Andy Doubrava run a U-shaped counter wrapped around the kitchen, so every guest watches the 13-course tasting come together inches away. Dinner is $195, with a beverage pairing offered on arrival, and the restaurant took one Michelin star in the inaugural 2025 Tennessee guide. It is the city's benchmark chef's-counter night, best for a solo diner or a couple who want the full performance. Reservations release on a set date each month and go fast.
