About Lings Pavilion
Lings Pavilion, opened in 1991 in Colaba's Lansdowne House, is the longest-running serious Cantonese restaurant in Mumbai and arguably in India. Three generations of the Ling family have run the kitchen; the dim sum recipes are unchanged since opening night, and the wood-fired Peking duck oven has not gone cold in thirty-plus years.
The menu is comprehensive but the must-order list is short and absolute: Peking duck (whole, two ways), crystal prawn dumplings, salt-and-pepper soft-shell crab, hand-pulled noodles with XO sauce, and a black-pepper beef tenderloin that has converted three decades of vegetarians. The kitchen serves family-style portions; six-to-twelve covers is the sweet spot.
The dining room is wood-panelled, lantern-lit, and unpretentious, a place where deals close, birthdays anchor, families gather. Round tables with lazy Susans dominate the floor plan; private rooms accommodate eight to twenty for company dinners and milestone celebrations. The wine list is straightforward; the cellar leans on Sauvignon Blanc and entry-level Bordeaux, but the Tsingtao programme is fine.
Bookings by phone, yes, by phone, or through DineOut, one week ahead for weekend prime-time. The team know their regulars by name; the welcome alone is worth the trip. Dress smart-casual; jackets are not required but plenty of guests wear them.

Team dinner Mumbai used to mean Lings Pavilion by default, and for good reason. Round tables, sharing menus, prices that scale with headcount, a kitchen that has been doing this for thirty years and is not about to fumble your fortieth-birthday duck.
