The Restaurant
Amelia opened in late 2024 on the ground floor of One BKC - the marquee corporate tower in the Bandra Kurla Complex that houses several global investment banks and consulting headquarters - and has quickly become the default closing-dinner reservation for the BKC business community. The dining room is unusual for a Mumbai mall restaurant: a high ceiling with sculptural pendant lighting, a selected art programme of rotating contemporary pieces from a Mumbai gallery, a long marble cocktail bar at the entrance, a wood-panelled main dining room that seats around seventy across two-tops and four-tops, and a private dining alcove that holds twelve. Designed by a Madrid-trained interior team, the space reads more like a London or Madrid art-led restaurant than a Mumbai room.
The kitchen runs a refined Modern European menu with strong Italian and Spanish foundations: a hand-cut beef-and-bone-marrow tartare with toasted brioche, a black-truffle ravioli with brown butter that has become the room's calling card, a saffron risotto with king prawns, a slow-roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary jus, and a wood-grilled branzino in salt crust opened tableside. The pizza programme - a six-pizza section cooked in a wood-fired oven visible at the back of the dining room - is unusually serious for a fine-dining context and includes a black-truffle white pizza that is the late-night BKC business order. Desserts include a signature tiramisu in a coffee-cup presentation and a chocolate-and-olive-oil cake that has been on the menu since opening.
The bar programme is the most ambitious cocktail kitchen in BKC - about thirty-five house drinks rotating seasonally, a focused agave and mezcal section, and a strong amaro and digestif programme that supports a Continental after-dinner ritual. The wine list runs about a hundred and seventy references with serious depth in Italian regional wines (Brunello, Barolo, Etna Rosso), Spanish whites (Rias Baixas Albarino, Ribera del Duero), and a focused Burgundy village section, plus a thoughtful Old World by-the-glass programme that is rare at this price point in the city. Service is fluent in English and Hindi, captain-led, and the floor team understands the BKC senior-business pace.
Why This Is Mumbai’s Close a Deal Pick
For closing a deal in Mumbai, Amelia is the BKC-business-dinner default because every variable is in the host's favour: the One BKC address is two minutes by car from the Trident BKC and St. Regis Mumbai, the dining room reads as a London or Madrid restaurant rather than a Mumbai mall venue (which lowers the cultural delta for visiting Western guests), the menu structure is universally legible without surrendering ambition, the wine list is deep enough to anchor a serious bottle, and the private dining alcove can hold a four-top who want to talk numbers without being overheard. Amelia is the cleanest closing-dinner room in BKC right now.
