About Restaurant K
Restaurant K is the gastronomic flagship of Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort — the institutional luxury resort on Cook's Bay, opened in the 1970s and continuously operated as a Sofitel property — and is one of Moorea's most reliable serious-occasion dining rooms. The restaurant on the grounds of the Sofitel la Ora Beach Resort is set under a cathedral ceiling made from wood from the Tuamotus.
The cuisine is contemporary French-Polynesian. Tables are draped in white linen and decorated with shells and driftwood, with candles creating a romantic glow and the floor made of sand. Dinner is a 3-, 5-, or 7-course tasting menu by renowned chef Guillaume Burlion. Signatures include a hand-cut Polynesian-tuna tartare with passionfruit; a slow-cooked Polynesian lobster with vanilla-bean butter; a wood-fired Polynesian mahi-mahi with Tahitian-vanilla; the famous 'crème brûlée à la vanille de Tahiti' for the dessert course.
The wine list runs to 500 references with a superb vintage wine list — deep French Champagne and Burgundy coverage.
The dining room sits with sand floors directly on the Cook's Bay beach. Service is Sofitel-grade.
Why It's Perfect for Proposal
Restaurant K is the proposal-grade table in Moorea — the sand-floor candle-lit beachfront setting is among the most photographed dinner views in French Polynesia, the Burlion pedigree settles the credibility question, and the seven-course pacing accommodates a slow-moving evening.
