The Restaurant

Le Pont de Brent has been a restaurant since the 19th century and under Gérard Rabaey held three Michelin stars from 1998 to 2011 — one of Switzerland's very few three-star rooms of that era. After Rabaey's retirement, Stéphane Décotterd took over and held one star until his 2022 move to Maison Décotterd. After a brief closure in 2023, the restaurant was purchased and re-opened in 2024. Michelin reconfirmed one star in 2025.

The current kitchen cooks modern French with Vaudois emphasis. Signatures include a lake-perch course with Lavaux chasselas butter, a roasted pigeon with vin jaune reduction, and a seasonal game menu in autumn. The tasting menu runs seven courses.

The building is the original 19th-century village auberge on Route de Blonay — low ceilings, wooden beams, fireplace lit October through April. The room seats thirty-six. It is a quiet setting a world removed from the lakefront glass and chrome.

The wine list carries the post-Rabaey legacy — deep Burgundy and Rhône, a careful selection of Vaudois terrace wines. The pairing is CHF 120.

Why It Works for First Date

For a first date or early relationship, Le Pont de Brent's village-auberge quietness is the correct atmosphere. The hillside drive (ten minutes from Montreux) is already part of the evening. The fireplace in winter and the candlelit beams in summer create warmth that the lakefront rooms can never match.

J. FavreFirst Date

The drive up through vineyards in autumn. The fireplace lit. A pigeon course and two glasses of Gigondas. We stayed past midnight. Second date within a week.

Came for an anniversary; the warmth of the room made the evening. We returned six months later for a proposal.
