About Beba

Beba is named for the Schor brothers' grandmother, and it cooks the way an Argentine-Jewish kitchen in Montreal might if it also kept one eye on Italy and Spain. Ari and Pablo opened it in Verdun in 2019; by 2026 it sat at No.27 on North America's 50 Best Restaurants and carried a Recommended nod in Quebec's first MICHELIN Guide. It is a destination room people cross town for, much like Joe Beef, where Pablo once worked the floor.

The Kitchen

Ariel Schor spent six years as chef de cuisine at Liverpool House before this, and it shows in the control. The menu is short, roughly ten plates, rebuilt with the seasons. The beef-and-olive empanada with chimichurri is the one regulars order on instinct; the tagliatelle with lamb ragu and radicchio and the house flan close most meals. Expect around C$38 a head for food before wine, which buys cooking as serious as anything in our impress-the-client shortlist.

The Room

Thirty-odd seats, an open pass, and a wine program that leans natural and Iberian. It is intimate to the point that conversation carries, so it rewards two or four over a large party. For a looser night in the same orbit, the Schors' neighbours at Le Vin Papillon pour in a similar key.

Best for a special-occasion dinner

A counter or a corner two-top, a bottle of something Spanish, and a menu you let the kitchen drive. Book three to four weeks out for a weekend table.

Not for

Not for a big group or a fixed plan: there are barely thirty seats, the menu is about ten plates, and it changes with the week.
