About Park Chinois

Park Chinois opened on Berkeley Street in 2015 from restaurateur Alan Yau (founder of Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Busaba) and remains the most theatrical Chinese dining room in Mayfair. The main floor is styled after a 1930s Shanghai jazz club: deep red velvet, brass fittings, a central bar, and a live band that plays most evenings.

The kitchen runs a refined Cantonese menu with a serious dim sum programme, a roast meats section — Peking duck carved tableside, char siu, roast suckling pig — and a signature wok-fried lobster. Pricing is firmly Mayfair-hotel; the theatre of the service and the room is what you are paying for beyond the food alone.

The downstairs Club Chinois operates later into the evening with a separate menu and the live-music programme, which makes the restaurant an unusually good choice for birthdays where the evening needs somewhere to extend to. The Berkeley Street address is two minutes from The Ritz, five minutes from The Connaught.

Best Occasion Fit

Park Chinois is a birthday or client-dinner choice when the atmosphere is the point. The Shanghai-club staging, the tableside Peking duck service, and the downstairs club all combine into a restaurant that understands occasion dining — which is why it keeps booking heavily even at Mayfair-peak pricing.
