Restaurant La Terrasse — Seafood / Franco-Togolese, Lomé
La Terrasse occupies one of Lomé's prime coastal positions — a broad terrace above the Atlantic shore where the Gulf of Guinea rolls in with enough force to be heard throughout the restaurant. The view, extending west along the coastline toward Ghana, is among the most open in Lomé.
The kitchen focuses on the Atlantic's harvest: barracuda, dorade, and the seasonal Atlantic shrimp prepared in the Franco-Togolese tradition — grilled simply with herbs, served with attiéké (fermented cassava couscous from Côte d'Ivoire, now ubiquitous across the region) and a house piment sauce.
The sunset here arrives over the Atlantic with the directness that Lomé's latitude provides — a clean, unobstructed drop below the horizon that moves from gold to deep red in the space of fifteen minutes. The terrace fills at 6pm for this reason.
The Eku beer (Togolese national lager) arrives cold and in the large bottle that the climate demands. The house cocktail — rum, fresh lime, and ginger — is competently made and correctly priced.
Best Occasion: Great for First Dates
The Atlantic sunset does the romantic heavy lifting. The grilled dorade and cold beer provide the pleasure. La Terrasse produces first dates that succeed with minimal effort from either participant.
Best Occasion: Perfect for Proposals
The terrace corner table at sunset, Atlantic breeze, and grilled seafood — Lomé's most naturally romantic dining position. The staff will time the champagne to the last light.
