Senja

The Sheraton's pool-deck sunset restaurant — Mediterranean-Indonesian plates, a decent wine programme, and the most accessible luxury-hotel dining on the Senggigi strip for diners not staying on-property.

The Experience

Senja — the name is Indonesian for 'twilight' — is the pool-deck sunset restaurant at Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort and is, as the restaurant most directly integrated into the Senggigi tourist strip, the most accessible luxury-hotel dining option for visitors not booked into the farther-out resorts. The setting is the Sheraton's main pool deck, with the pool itself as foreground, the Senggigi beach visible beyond, and a lantern-lit arrangement of tables with a mix of low-slung lounger-style seating (at the pool edge) and formal dining tables (on the raised deck). The 18:00 seating captures the sunset directly.

The menu is Mediterranean-Indonesian rather than strictly either — a pragmatic recognition that the Sheraton's guest mix includes European, Australian, and Asian travellers with different expectations. The Mediterranean chapter covers a pizza programme (wood-fired oven, competent Neapolitan style), pasta (carbonara and a lobster-linguine option), Greek salads, and grilled lamb. The Indonesian chapter covers the key dishes — ayam taliwang, nasi goreng, sate — at a quality that is fine-dining rather than resort-generic. The seafood programme, drawing on the Senggigi fishing fleet, is the cross-cuisine strong point.

The wine list is Sheraton-standard — roughly 60 bins, predictable but reliable — and the cocktail programme is pool-bar-standard rather than cocktail-bar-standard (well-executed classics, not much creativity). The beer list is broader than most of Senggigi's, with six imported options alongside Bintang and the local Heineken-brewed options. The coffee programme, for the lunch crowd, is the best in Senggigi.

Reservations are recommended for the sunset seating (17:30–18:30) and for weekend evenings generally. Walk-ins for lunch are reliably accommodated. Bookings via the Sheraton concierge or the hotel website. The IDR 400K–800K per person range covers a full dinner. Non-resort guests are welcome and do not pay a resort-access fee.

Why it's perfect for First Date

For a first date in Lombok where both parties want a straightforward sunset-dinner experience without the logistical complexity of a farther-out resort booking, Senja is the accessible answer. The pool-deck setting is reliably romantic; the menu is broad enough for any preference; the service is attentive without being intrusive. For team dinners of six to twelve at a mid-range budget, the raised-deck long tables accommodate the group.
