The Cornstore

The Cornstore occupies a beautifully converted 19th-century granary at 19 Thomas Street, in the heart of Limerick city centre five minutes' walk from the riverfront and the Limerick City Gallery. The exposed stone walls and pitch-pine beams of the original granary anchor the room.

The kitchen runs a steak-and-seafood programme built around dry-aged Irish Hereford and day-boat fish from Dingle, Castletownbere and the Shannon estuary. Hand-cut chips, classical sauces (béarnaise, peppercorn, blue cheese), a serious raw bar in season. This is not modernist cooking — it is confident classical product execution at a high standard.

The wine list is the city's most serious — Bordeaux to depth across multiple vintages, focused Burgundy, strong Rhône and Italian representation, plus a respectable Old World by-the-glass programme. The cocktail bar at the front of the restaurant is a destination in its own right.

The room takes around 120 covers across the granary's main floor and a mezzanine level — large enough for a working group of eight to twelve, intimate enough for a four-top to feel private. Service is professional and brisk. Open every day; book a week ahead for Friday or Saturday.

The Cornstore is Limerick city's executive deal-closer — the room every visiting director, every delegation to the Shannon Free Zone, every Munster Rugby sponsor lunch ends up at. The conversion of a 19th-century granary on Thomas Street is the right scale for a working dinner; the dry-aged Hereford on the menu is the right product for the audience; the wine list runs deep enough on Bordeaux to handle the full negotiation.
