"Lima's most dramatic table. Walk the pier, hear the Pacific below your feet, and choose your moment — because every moment here, lit by the fading sun over the Humboldt current, is the right moment to say something unforgettable."
About La Rosa Náutica
There is only one restaurant in Lima that sits on a pier over the Pacific Ocean, and it has been there since 1983. La Rosa Náutica occupies a Victorian-style wooden structure built at the end of Espigón 4, the fourth of Miraflores's coastal breakwaters, and it extends across the Humboldt Current on stilts that have survived forty years of Pacific storms, fog, and the particular kind of salt-laden wind that comes off a cold ocean at dusk. The setting is extraordinary in a way that no interior designer can replicate.
For decades, the restaurant was Lima's most famous table — not because the food was the city's best, but because the location was the city's most irreplaceable. In 2023, renowned Peruvian chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino — whose Amazonian restaurant Malabar established him as one of Latin America's most serious cooks — took over the kitchen. The food has since caught up with the view. Schiaffino's approach to Peruvian seafood is serious, precise, and grounded in his deep knowledge of the country's coastal and river ecosystems: ceviche made with fish sourced directly from artisanal fishermen, scallops from Peru's northern bays, sea urchin in season, and preparations that reflect the country's Japanese, Chinese, and African influences on its coastal kitchen.
The dining room is rambling and Victorian in its aesthetic: dark wood, ocean-facing windows on three sides, tables spaced far enough apart for private conversation, and live music in the evening that stays at the level of atmosphere rather than intrusion. The wine list is extensive, the Pisco sours are prepared tableside, and the service has the formal attentiveness of a restaurant that has been in business long enough to know exactly what a special occasion requires.
The View
At sunset, the Humboldt Current turns the Pacific from grey-green to amber and then to deep violet. Pelicans fly below the dining room windows. The Lima cliffs of the Costa Verde, lit from above, frame the scene on the landward side. No other restaurant in the city offers this — and no amount of recounting it does justice to sitting inside it with someone you love, or someone you hope will say yes.
Best Occasion Fit
For a Proposal, La Rosa Náutica may be Lima's single finest choice: the walk along the pier creates anticipation, the view provides the setting, and the privacy of a well-spaced table provides the moment. For a Birthday, the sense of occasion is built into the structure — guests arrive knowing something special is coming, and the restaurant delivers. For a First Date, it makes an impression that is impossible to confuse with casual dining; this is a statement of intent, and the right person will recognise it as such.

What Guests Say
I proposed here at sunset. We had a window table overlooking the Pacific, Pisco sours on arrival, and a service team that somehow knew what was about to happen and timed everything perfectly. She said yes before dessert. La Rosa Náutica is worth every penny for the right moment.
He took me here on a first date and I knew immediately this was someone serious. The walk along the pier, the sound of the Pacific below, the ceviche — it was the most atmospheric meal I've eaten in South America. Since Schiaffino took over the kitchen, the food matches the setting completely.
My wife's 50th birthday. I've been coming to La Rosa Náutica since I was a child — my parents brought me here for special occasions. The new kitchen under Schiaffino is a revelation. The corvina was the best version I've tasted, and the sunset was, as always, unmatchable.
