"Gastón Acurio made Peru famous with this restaurant. Three decades on, it remains the boardroom table of Lima's dining scene — where deals get done over the finest ceviche in a colonial mansion. The power table of South America."
About Astrid y Gastón
In 1994, Gastón Acurio and his wife Astrid Gutsche opened a small French restaurant in Miraflores. They had trained in Paris. What they didn't expect was that Peru itself — its ceviche, its causa, its ají amarillo — would prove far more compelling than anything they had learned in France. The restaurant transformed, Peruvian cuisine became the focus, and Astrid y Gastón became the laboratory and monument of a culinary revolution that would eventually make Lima the most-discussed food city on earth.
Today, the restaurant operates from Casa Moreyra — a stunning 17th-century colonial mansion in San Isidro, Lima's most prestigious business district. The hacienda setting, with its courtyards, galleries, and impeccably maintained colonial architecture, provides a backdrop that communicates history, taste, and success simultaneously. The team includes over 60 people; the wine cellar holds thousands of bottles from Peru's Ica and Moquegua valleys alongside France, Spain, and Argentina.
The menu offers both a tasting menu and à la carte dining — a flexibility rare among Lima's top restaurants. The tasting menu takes guests through the evolution of Peruvian cuisine from its pre-Columbian roots to its contemporary expression. À la carte dishes include some of the definitive renditions of Peruvian classics: ceviche clásico, chupe de camarones, arroz con leche. The kitchen is technically precise, the ingredients sourced directly from artisan producers across Peru's regions.
Lima's Power Dining Address
Astrid y Gastón is where Lima's business community and political elite have dinner. The colonial mansion setting makes it impossible to arrive here without projecting substance. Unlike the more cerebral atmosphere of Central or Maido, Astrid y Gastón has the easy authority of a restaurant that knows its position — and uses that position to make its guests feel important. For Close a Deal occasions, this is the choice when you want grandeur without intimidation, and cuisine that speaks for itself.
For an Impress Clients occasion, particularly for guests visiting Lima for the first time, Astrid y Gastón provides the ideal introduction to Peruvian haute cuisine: historically significant, technically excellent, and set in surroundings that communicate culture and refinement. Acurio's name carries global weight in the culinary world; for informed guests, it signals that your host operates at a global level.
The Birthday Table
For milestone birthdays — the ones that deserve a celebration equal to their significance — Astrid y Gastón is Lima's most complete choice. The private dining rooms within Casa Moreyra can accommodate groups of 10 to 60; the team are experienced with bespoke menus and specialised wine pairings. The colonial setting, the garden courtyard, and the quality of the food combine to create an evening that guests will discuss for years.

What Guests Say
I've done business dinners on five continents. Astrid y Gastón is the only restaurant where the setting itself did half my work for me. The colonial mansion, the quiet authority of the service, the extraordinary wine list — my client from London arrived sceptical about Lima and left asking when we could return. The deal closed before dessert.
My mother's 70th birthday in the private courtyard. Twenty people around a long table, the colonial arches lit with the evening light, and Gastón's kitchen sending out dish after dish of the food she grew up loving — but elevated, transformed, made new. She said it was the best evening of her life. I believe her.
