About Sensei by Nobu
Sensei by Nobu is Sensei Lanai's institutional dining room — opened in 2019 in the all-villa wellness retreat in Lanai City, the central plateau of Lanai — and is the most architecturally striking dining room on the island. The restaurant runs as a Nobu-omakase wellness programme: open for all three meals daily, with the highlight being a multi-course omakase dinner.
The cuisine is contemporary Japanese with a wellness focus. Signatures include the famous 'black cod miso'; the 'tuna tartare with caviar'; the 'yellowtail jalapeño'; the famous 'Lanai uni shooter'; the 'ginger-glazed Hawaiian Wagyu'. The wellness programme adapts portions and ingredient choices to align with the Sensei Lanai longevity-and-wellness philosophy that Larry Ellison developed in partnership with cancer-research-doctor David Agus.
The sake list runs to twenty-plus bottlings. The wine list runs to 350 references with deep French Champagne coverage.
The dining room sits in a Tadao-Ando-designed minimalist Japanese pavilion at the heart of the Sensei Lanai resort.
