About Les Deux

Les Deux Kitzbühel — Brasserie & Bar is the Kitzbühel project of Mario Hopfgartner, a Tyrolean-born chef who returned home in 2022 after a decade in French and German Michelin kitchens, and is the surprise newcomer to the 2026 Michelin Austria guide — the only new one-star added to Tyrol this year. The room sits at Vorderstadt 22, halfway up the medieval main street, in a converted 16th-century townhouse with a stone-vaulted ground floor and a glass-walled mezzanine.

The cuisine is French brasserie technique applied to Tyrolean produce. The signature plate is a slow-cooked Tyrolean ox-cheek with red-wine reduction and Schupfnudel that has won the chef multiple regional cooking honours; other anchors include a hand-rolled gnocchi with Tyrolean game ragu and 36-month Parmigiano; a smoked Schliersee char with horseradish butter; a hot soufflé au Cointreau that the pastry team has refined since opening.

The wine list runs to 600 references with a deliberate French-Austrian split — half Burgundy and Loire, half Wachau and Steiermark — and a tightly chosen Champagne section that runs to grower-producers. Sommelier Caroline Steinbacher runs the floor and the pairing flight at €85 is the best wine value among any Tyrolean Michelin-starred room. The cocktail bar at the front of the restaurant is genuinely interesting and runs a serious aperitif programme.

The dining room holds forty-eight covers across the two floors, with the stone-vaulted ground floor running at higher volume and the mezzanine quieter. Service is brasserie-pace — the captains rotate quickly, the pacing is exact, and the kitchen runs at a single pass with no second chef. Les Deux is also the most reliable client-entertaining address in the under-€200-per-person tier in Kitzbühel — the new Michelin star settles the question and the cooking never overreaches.

Why It's Perfect for Impress Clients

Les Deux Kitzbühel is the impress-the-client room when the brief is contemporary rather than institutional. The new 2026 Michelin star answers the credibility question; the French-brasserie register is the most reliable client-entertaining format in the village; the cocktail bar opening makes an easy pre-dinner drinks experience. Book the mezzanine four-top for a quieter dinner; ask Caroline for the Wachau-vertical pairing.
