The specialty of Terrassa Cafe is that it offers a beautiful dining experience in a rooftop terrace, particularly atmospheric in the summer evenings. You can enjoy grilled-meat kebab with soup and dumplings at this barbecue-style restaurant that serves delicious Uzbek cuisine with the entire Itchan Kala walled-city visible from the rooftop dining tables — the Kalta Minor Minaret to the north, the Juma Mosque's ancient carved wooden minaret to the east, and the Itchan Kala outer walls visible at the horizon.
The menu is Uzbek BBQ-and-classic. Shashlik (lamb, chicken, beef, $3 per skewer); Lagman noodle soup ($5); Manty ($5 for six dumplings); Plov ($6); Khorezmian Mastava soup ($4); the regional Khorezm Pilaff ($7). The signature Terrassa Mixed Grill set with three skewer-types, lagman, manty, and salads runs $25 for two diners.
The room is the rooftop. The terrace has twenty open-air tables across two levels — the lower level closer to the kitchen with a partial cover for rain, the upper level fully open with the most-photographed Itchan Kala panorama view. The terrace is open spring through fall (May to October); during winter the restaurant operates from a small indoor section. Sunset hour (6:30-7:30pm) is the prime dining time.
Walk-ins are the format's primary access — there are no formal reservations — but during the Uzbek tourist peak (May, June, September, October), arriving by 6pm for sunset tables is recommended. Cards are accepted; English signage is universal; the staff speak basic functional English. The post-dinner walk along the Itchan Kala walls at sunset is the proper close to the evening.
